Living in Lithia

Lithia is a medium-sized town located in the state of Florida. With a population of 32,118 people and four associated neighborhoods, Lithia is the 104th largest community in Florida. Lithia has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Lithia, where the median household income is $122,766.00.

Housing costs in Lithia are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Florida.

There are many members of the armed forces living in Lithia. You will notice when you visit or live here that some of the people you meet or see around town are employed by the armed services - even if they are not always in uniform.

Also of interest is that Lithia has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 18.82% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Because of many things, Lithia is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Lithia really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Lithia perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

One downside of living in Lithia, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 36.36 minutes every day commuting to work.

The citizens of Lithia are among the most well-educated in the nation: 45.40% of adults in Lithia have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree, whereas the average US city has 21.84% holding at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Lithia in 2022 was $44,685, which is upper middle income relative to Florida, and wealthy relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $178,740 for a family of four. However, Lithia contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
