Another notable thing is that Atlantic Beach is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the village’s population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.

Urban sophisticates are people who are both educated and wealthy, and thus tend to be older, richer, and more established than young professionals. "Urban sophisticates" is not just about being educated and well-off financially: it is a point of view and state of mind, one that you might call 'urbaneness'. But such people can and do regularly live in small towns, suburbs and rural areas, as well as in big cities. They read, support the arts and high-end shops, and love travel.
Because of many things, Atlantic Beach is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Atlantic Beach a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The village’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Atlantic Beach has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Atlantic Beach’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.
Atlantic Beach is also nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.
One downside of living in Atlantic Beach is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Atlantic Beach, the average commute to work is 41.67 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average. On the other hand, local public transit is widely used in the village, so leaving the car at home and taking transit is often a viable alternative.
In Atlantic Beach, a lot of people use the train to get to work every day though Atlantic Beach is a relatively small village. Those that ride the train are primarily traveling out of town to good jobs in other cities.
