Living in Washington

Washington is a medium-sized city located in the state of Utah. With a population of 32,709 people and five associated neighborhoods, Washington is the 37th largest community in Utah. Washington has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Washington, where the median household income is $94,655.00.

Washington home prices are not only among the most expensive in Utah, but Washington real estate also consistently ranks among the most expensive in America.

Of important note, Washington is also a city of artists. Washington has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Washington’s character.

Also of interest is that Washington has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

A relatively large number of people in Washington telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 9.57% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Washington spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 16.82 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the city are less than they would otherwise be.

The education level of Washington citizens is very high relative to the national average among all cities (21.84%): 37.12% of adults in Washington have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree.

The per capita income in Washington in 2022 was $41,499, which is wealthy relative to Utah, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $165,996 for a family of four. However, Washington contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
